Cost Grading

For all Cost fields, the Grade is based on the deviation from the Budget target.  The algorithm assumes that being under budget is desirable and being over budget is undesirable and the Grading is designed to reflect this assumption.  As such, being close to on budget (ie target) represents a C grade leaving room to be both under (A or B grades) or over (D or F grades).   When there are multiple Cost fields, the overall Cost grade is the average across all fields with equal weighting.

The Cost Visualization provides a detailed view of each Cost Budget and the percentage over/under budget.  The Grade for each Cost is provided in parentheses next to the name.  Hovering over each bar provides additional details of total Budget and Allocation.  Examples are provided below of C grade and F grade Cost Plans.
